The Surgery Department at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center (CHNCAK) specializes in the management of digestive, oncological, and emergency surgical conditions. Led by Dr. Abdou Niasse, the department provides high-quality care through an expert medical team and modern equipment. The conditions treated include digestive and abdominal emergencies, digestive and gynecological cancers, as well as anorectal and parietal pathologies.

Facilities and Equipment

The Surgery Department has a shared unit with 46 beds, including 37 beds dedicated to surgical hospitalization. The service is equipped to manage a wide range of surgical conditions with modern and well-adapted facilities, ensuring optimal patient care.

The team behind the service

The Surgery Department is led by Dr. Abdou Niasse, specializing in general surgery, hepatobiliary-pancreatic oncology, and liver transplantation. The medical team also includes Dr. Abdoulaye NDIAYE, a general surgeon, Dr. Papa Souleymane DIENG, an oncological surgeon, and Dr. Sokhna Maimouna FAYE, a general practitioner. They are supported by a paramedical team consisting of 8 state-registered nurses, including the service supervisor Mrs. Fatou NDIAYE, and 3 assistant nurses.

Dr. Abdou Niasse

Service chief

Dr. Abdou Niasse is the Head of the Surgery Department at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center in Touba. He earned his doctorate in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine and Odonto-Stomatology at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. Dr. Niasse then specialized in general surgery, hepatobiliary-pancreatic oncology, and liver transplantation, continuing his training between Cheikh Anta Diop University and universities in Belgium. A former hospital intern, he completed a residency at Saint Luc University Clinics in Brussels and obtained several advanced surgical degrees, including in advanced laparoscopic surgery and hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancers from the University of Paris Saclay. With this extensive training and experience, Dr. Niasse leads the surgery department with recognized expertise, providing high-quality care to patients in the region.
