The Orthopedics and Traumatology Department at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center (CHNCAK) is committed to providing comprehensive care for a variety of bone conditions in adults, whether traumatic or non-traumatic. Led by Dr. Alioune Badara DIONE, the department offers specialized medical and surgical treatments, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The department specializes in the treatment of fractures, joint dislocations, arthritis, bone tumors, and much more. With a focus on patient-centered care, the department ensures that all patients receive high-quality treatments tailored to their specific needs.
Treated pathologies
The Orthopedics and Traumatology Service at CHNCAK provides comprehensive care for a wide range of bone-related conditions in adults, both traumatic and non-traumatic. The treated pathologies include:
- Traumatic injuries: Management of fractures, dislocations, and sprains, which are common in orthopedic emergencies, along with bone and soft tissue infections.
- Non-traumatic conditions: Treatment of arthritis, bone tumors, skeletal deformities, and tendon and ligament injuries.
- Specialization in joint replacement: The service is particularly specialized in total hip and knee arthroplasty, treating conditions such as coxarthrosis, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, femoral neck fractures, and gonarthrosis.
These pathologies are managed with a patient-centered approach, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and effective care.
Facilities and Equipment
The Orthopedics and Traumatology Service at CHNCAK is well-equipped to provide high-quality care to its patients. The service has 12 dedicated beds for clean surgeries, allowing for specialized and precise interventions. Additionally, it shares 49 beds with the surgery department, accommodating patients needing care for infections or septic conditions, including some osteosynthesis cases.
The department also includes a physiotherapy room for patient rehabilitation and post-operative follow-up. The surgical area is equipped with a complete orthopedic table, two fluoroscopy machines for real-time imaging precision, two electric pneumatic tourniquets, and an arthroscopy tower for minimally invasive joint procedures.
These modern facilities enable the medical team to perform a wide range of procedures, ensuring high-quality care tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

He also holds certifications in research and public health and is a member of organizations like SOSECOT, SFA, SAFO, and WAIOT. Dr. DIONE's expertise and leadership are essential in providing high-quality care for bone pathologies.
