Presentation of the service
The Oncology-Radiotherapy Department at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center (CHNCAK) is dedicated to the comprehensive management of tumor-related conditions, whether malignant or benign. Led by Dr. Maimouna MANE, the department integrates several specialized units, including external radiotherapy, medical physics, chemotherapy, and oncological surgery. With a multidisciplinary team and state-of-the-art equipment, we provide high-quality care tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Our services include consultations, personalized treatments, and palliative care to ensure complete support at every stage of the patient’s journey.

Facilities and Equipment
Our care unit is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment, adhering to the highest international standards to provide comprehensive and high-quality oncological care.
- External Radiotherapy Bunker: Housing a VARIAN UNIQUE linear particle accelerator (LINAC), ensuring precise and effective radiotherapy treatments.
- Simulation Scanner Room: Equipped with a HITACHI 16-slice dosimetric scanner, essential for planning radiotherapy treatments.
- Brachytherapy Bunker: Designed for brachytherapy treatments, offering an effective alternative to external radiotherapy.
- Chemotherapy Medication Preparation Room: Meeting international standards, featuring a Safe Fast Top 212 laminar flow hood and a medical cold storage room for the storage and preservation of chemotherapy drugs.
- Mammography Room: Equipped with a mammograph capable of stereotactic biopsies, for precise diagnostics and targeted interventions.
- Preparation Room: With a preparation hood, storage cabinet, and medical cold storage room, ensuring the safety and quality of chemotherapy medications.
- Large Chemotherapy Room: Accommodating up to 18 patients, providing a comfortable and secure space for chemotherapy treatments.
- Palliative Care Room: Dedicated to palliative care, in day hospitalization, offering support and appropriate treatments to patients requiring standard or palliative oncological care.
These facilities and equipment enable us to provide high-precision and quality treatments, addressing the specific needs of each patient while ensuring their comfort and safety.

The team behind the service
The oncology-radiotherapy service at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center (CHNCAK) is led by Dr. Maimouna MANE, an experienced oncologist-radiotherapist. The medical team comprises 4 oncologist-radiotherapists: Dr. Maimouna MANE, Dr. Cheikh Mouhamadou Falilou SALL, Dr. Khadidjatou BADJI, and Dr. El Hadji Aliou BALDE. It also includes a specialized surgical oncologist, Dr. Papa Souleymane DIENG, and a general practitioner, Dr. Mbaye FALL.
The team is supported by a dedicated paramedical team, managing both outpatient and hospitalized patients. The medical physics unit, crucial for radiotherapy, includes 3 medical physicists: Dr. Magatte DIAGNE, Dr. Adji Yaram DIOP, and Mr. Soumaila Sangaré, responsible for the radiotherapy machines, dosimetry, and radioprotection of workers and patients. With this multidisciplinary team, the service ensures comprehensive and personalized care for patients with tumor pathologies.
Dr. Maimouna MANE
Service chief
Dr. Maimouna MANE is an oncologist-radiotherapist at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center in Touba. She obtained her medical doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine and Odonto-Stomatology at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. She then specialized in radiotherapy, training at the faculties of medicine in Fès and the Free University of Brussels. She also holds degrees from the Faculty of Medicine at University Paris XI and the International School of Public Health in Casablanca. With this extensive international training, Dr. Mané brings valuable and diverse expertise to the oncology-radiotherapy service.
