Presentation of the service

The Internal Medicine Department of the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center (CHNCAK) is a transversal service with several medical specialties involved in the fields of endocrinology, metabolic diseases and nutrition, hepato-gastroenterology, infectious diseases, dermatology, oncology, neurology, rheumatology, clinical immunology, nephrology, pulmonology and hematology in particular.

These main missions:

o       Allow optimal management of systemic diseases, digestive diseases, diabetes and other endocrine-metabolic, dermatological, nephrological, pulmonary, hematological, infectious diseases and chronic pain in particular;
o       Participate in the theoretical and practical training (initial and continuing) of health personnel;
o       Promote partnership in the field of continuing education and medical research.

The team behind the service

The Medicine Department is headed by Dr. Ahmadou GAYE, hospital practitioner and specialist in internal medicine, hepato-gastroenterologist. The team of specialist doctors also includes, Dr Mamadou BA (former intern at Dakar hospitals, endocrinologist - Diabetologist - Nutrition), Dr Niare NDOUR (Former intern at Dakar hospitals, Dermatologist Venerologist), Dr Ousmane TSHIBOLA (Infectiologist ), Dr Awa NDIAYE (Specialist in clinical hematology) as well as general practitioners: Dr Aboubacar Mbagnick DIOP, Dr Fatim NDIAYE, Dr Abdou TALL, Dr Soda GUEYE, Dr Pape Amdy BÂ, Dr Abdou Karim NDIAYE, Dr Amy CISSE, Dr Oumy Khemess YOUM, Dr Khadim FAYE.

The service is also made up of 10 State Nurses, 4 Nursing Assistants, an administrative agent and two Secretaries

Dr. Ahmadou GAYE

Service chief

Dr. Ahmadou GAYE is the head of the Medicine Department at the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim National Hospital Center in Touba. He obtained his state doctorate in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine and Ondoto-Stomatology of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. Doctor Ahmadou GAYE then specialized in hepato-gastro-enterologist- nutritional assistance and a university diploma in digestive endoscopy from the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg.
